House Bill 545 has taken comfort in the mind of Ohio’s governor, Ted Strickland. He is on the move to convince people in his state to vote in favor of the bill. Ignoring the voice of the people earlier this year, this bill will put a cap on the annual interest rates that no fax payday loan companies can charge to 36 percent. Now let’s review this situation in a bigger picture. This would mean the payday loan industry will make virtually no money at all, which will eventually drive the whole industry out of the state. No company can survive under these conditions. To make matters worse, presidential candidate, Barack Obama, has vowed to impose Strickland’s interest rate cap nationally. This will mean that people will have fewer options making ends meet in tough times. If this bill should be passed, what then do they offer the people in return when life throws one of its little surprises? Before casting your vote, think about the dreadful consequences.

Brian, I'd love to know what polling you're looking at, because the polling I've seen shows Obama ahead, not behind.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html

The polls listed there have Obama ahead by an average of 3.7%, so I'd be curious to know what polls you're looking at.

If elected, Barack Obama will go down at one of the least qualified persons to every be sworn into the presidency.

If he wins he'll make the role of "back bencher" a new, preferred standard for Democrat candidates for the Oval Office. Let's face it: The old standard - having actually done something legislatively or in an executive office, ended up disqualifying many Democrat presidential candidates with voters because it revealed who they actually were.

Obama would like us to believe that he's the new millenium's version of the Kennedy "Camelot" legacy - a legacy that was very long in appearances but a ridiculously failed presidency.

And remember - Obama clearly prefers actually running against two people - McCain AND the President, because if he runs against McCain only, polling shows McCain will beat him, and it won't be close.

Jessi, so you're saying that it's okay that John McCain was absent for a vote on a bill that would have strengthened consumer protections? Are you saying John McCain's absence on a vote to renew the CHIPS program isn't a big deal? After all, how many millions of American kids does CHIPS cover?

Further, don't cite propaganda from John McCain's website as some sort of "proof" of his record; try to look beyond the talking points.

If you're okay supporting a candidate who doesn't think it's important that kids have health insurance or that consumer safety and whistleblower protections are a big deal, then so be it.

What's more, I don't see Obama's missed vote on the ban against flag desecration as a big deal, given that there are more than a few folks out there who believe in free speech, including the burning of our flag, which our courts have ruled is protected speech under the first amendment.

Ok Zach I see you completely missed my point. As you can see there are only two of these records that he didn't vote on. The rest of these records are scary. Voting against English as our national language, voting against a ban on flag desecration, but again what does he care he doesn't even wear a flag pin, also destroying HUMAN embryos(yes that means they are alive) and last on my post but not least of his scary record is voting against securing our borders.

And here is a little history lesson about McCain.........
John McCain has a remarkable record of leadership and experience that embodies his unwavering lifetime commitment to service. First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona in 1982, John has led the fight for reforming Washington, eliminating wasteful government spending, and strengthening our nation's armed forces.

John McCain's reform agenda to reduce federal spending and lower taxes quickly elevated him to statewide office and he was elected to the United States Senate in 1986, after serving two terms in the U.S. House.

In the Senate, John continued to demand that Congress put an end to loopholes for special interests and fix the broken system in Washington that too often allows lobbyists to write legislation and members of Congress to waste taxpayer money. In November 2004, Senator McCain was overwhelmingly reelected with nearly 77 percent of the vote.

Lets see how long has Barack been a junior State Senator? Hmmm elected in Nov 2004. Not much time to get your feet wet before jumping in and being the leader of the free world.
He has been absent more than a junior state senator should be but more on that later.

Jessi,

Can I play the "look who didn't vote" game too? I'd love to play, but I want to take a look at Senator McCain's voting record.

Let's look at votes Senator McCain couldn't be bothered to make:

HR3221: Vote to pass a bill that changes mortgage and property tax laws and extends energy tax credits.
HR 2642: G.I. Bill Expansion and Other Domestic Provisions.
S Amdt 4231 to S Con Res 70: To establish a deficit-neutral reserve fund for border security, immigration enforcement, and criminal alien removal programs.
HR 4040: Consumer Product Safety Commission Bill: Vote to expand the size, authority, and responsibilities of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and to establish new consumer product safety standards.
HR 3963: Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007 (CHIP): Vote to pass a bill that reauthorizes and expands the State Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) through 2012.
