American needs to drill here drill now. America is having a energy crisis and we need to do something now!
Urge Congress and pass a bill to drill in America, where
the United States has vast oil and gas resources onshore and offshore that are currently illegal to develop and therefore inaccessible.
U.S. law prohibits the development of approximately 38 billion barrels of undeveloped oil resources (19 billion barrels onshore and 18.92 billion offshore).
U.S. law prohibits the development of approximately 180 trillion cubic feet of undeveloped natural gas resources (94.5 trillion cubic feet onshore and 85.7 trillion cubic feet offshore).

CONGRESS RECENTLY VOTED TO MAKE IT ILLEGAL TO DEVELOP U.S. OIL SHALE RESOURCES
With oil prices at an all-time high, Americans are facing escalating gas, diesel, and aircraft fuel increases. Oil prices are projected to increase further.
Congress, however, has made it illegal to develop vast domestic oil resources in large parts of the United States.
The most startling Congressional prohibition on domestic oil production concerns the recently enacted ban on the development of oil shale resources in parts of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming in the Green River Formation. According to a Rand Study estimate, this reserve contains over one trillion barrels of oil, with 800 billion barrels fully recoverable, or three times the current oil reserves as Saudi Arabia:
The complaint from the Democrats in the room was that Sen. Barack Obama wasn’t acting enough like… well, they weren’t quite sure: Robert Kennedy, maybe, or Hubert Humphrey, or Bill Clinton in the early 1990s. Obama had no fire, they said. He should be way ahead by now, they said. He needed a creative, sweeping new economic proposal, they said. Also, he needed to call them and ask them for their advice.
This was the drift at a Washington social event I attended the other night, the kind that draws senators, ambassadors and assorted know-it-alls.
Even as the global economy was crumbling—a huge political boost, at least at first glance, for the out-of-power Democrats—and even though Obama has climbed back into the lead in national polls, the mood among party faithful was sober to the point of gloomy.
Typical of the sentiment was that expressed by Don Riegle, a respected former senator and congressman from Michigan. A flinty native of Flint, where they used to make Buicks (the plant is long gone) Riegle is proudly old school, the kind of guy who regards an impassioned speech in a sweaty union hall as the epitome of being a Democrat.
He got wound up even as we chatted. “You’ve got to be able to convince working people that you’ll bust through walls for them!” Riegle told me. Wall-busting determination, he said, is what Obama needed to display if he hoped to defeat Sen. John McCain. “Obama has to show that he identifies with our people. He’s got to become more emotional. He has to show them that he is willing to do anything to see that people can live a better life.”
Riegle’s suggestion: Obama goes to Michigan and stands in an unemployment line with workers —the ones laid off in the auto industry, for example. “Just stand there and talk to them,” he said.
Others weren’t clear what Obama should do, but they knew it was something. For John Breaux, the cagey Cajun from Louisiana who served 32 years in Congress and who is now a leading lobbyist in the capital, the chief concern was that Obama is not 20 points ahead, which he should be given the state of the economy.
Some Dems complained that the Obama folks ask for money but don’t call to schmooze. A well-to-do former Hillary supporter, but by no means a hardliner, was dismissive. “No one from the campaign calls me except to ask for money,” she sniffed—on a not-for-attribution basis only. “The first time I heard from them they asked for $30,000! And I said, `which of my children do you want me to sell?’”
But I’m wondering if there isn’t method in Obama’s coolness, even as he tries to amp it up a bit to suit his campaign-trail critics. First, he knows who and what he is, and Hubert Humphrey, or Jesse Jackson, Jr., for that matter, isn’t it. Obama is not a shouter by nature. Authenticity counts—and so does not evoking the style of, say, Jeremiah Wright. Obama is Harvard Law; it’s plain fact. And he may have decided that the best quality to project at this scary and tumultuous moment is not fire but ice, not roiling emotion but studied calm.
More important, and perhaps more to the point, he is a Hawaiian. He knows something about body surfing. He knows that the key is the wave—to spot it early, to swim out to it, to get on it and let it carry you. You don’t fight it; you let its power take over.
And so Obama must feel about the global economic mess. It is a far bigger and more dangerous wave than he could have anticipated when he launched his candidacy in Springfield in February 2007. Those seem, looking back, like such innocent times.
The world seems to be standing on the brink of something huge and ominous. If Obama is as smart and sober as he seems to be, he knows that the next president will face daunting challenges.
There was some real fear in the room, and it had nothing to do with the Democratic Party.
I heard it when I talked to Sen. Kent Conrad, Democrat of North Dakota. He is a low-key sort, reared in the soft-spoken ways of the Northern Plains, trained in the bleak science of accounting at Stanford University. Fiscal matters are his forte, though he never seems to get too worked up about them. His idea of high drama in the Senate is an easel with a really great bar chart.
So I was taken aback the other night by how vehement and shaken Conrad seemed (I’ve known him for 20 years; I can detect such things).
As chairman of the Budget Committee (and ranking member on Finance as well), Conrad is plugged into the socket of the credit crisis. When I saw him he’d just been briefed—and shocked—by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson.
The two men had told him that, if the government had not taken over AIG Insurance, the entire economy of the United States, and much of the rest of the world, could have fallen into deep panic. Like an aggressive tumor, AIG’s unsustainable insurance guarantees were spread like poisonous filigree not just in hedge funds, brokerage houses and banks, but also on the books of blue-chip corporations atop the Fortune 500. “Some very big names were in danger,” he said.
“They had to do what they did,” Conrad explained to me. “No choice.” And as we have since learned, the takeover of AIG was not enough to calm the markets. Indeed, it seemed to have had the opposite effect.
Where the Democrats blameless?
Of course they weren’t. Even Democrats in the room admitted it.
The bipartisan consensus was that the festival of dangerous greed began in the Clinton 90s. Democrats, abandoning their union and working-class skepticism of the markets, threw in with a new crowd of pro-business, pro-deregulation donors. Also, they countenanced an anything-goes mentality at what became the party’s favorite new social-uplift tools, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The two behemoths papered the planet with cheap (and, as we now see, shaky) home mortgages, with the whole process run (and protected) by a get-rich-quick cadre of political hacks.
But the consensus in the room also was that the sordid history didn’t contain enough anti-Democratic ammunition to do McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin that much good.
In politics as in baseball, fans—voters—focus on what happens in the ninth inning, not the first. The Democrats whiffed on the credit crisis in the early years, but now they aren’t at bat. It was President George W. Bush who nominated Paulson and Bernanke. If they strike out, it’s the GOP that will lose the game.
Or so Obama has calculated, as he coolly waits for the next big wave.
In the last 24 hours, the following words of been associated with Barack Obama and his attacks: “mud,” “whopper,” “false,” “distortions” and “substantial exaggerations.” For a candidate who calls every question of his record a lie, he sure likes to tell a tall-tale or two. As for today’s business, John McCain will be in Maryland this afternoon to address the National Guard Association. You should expect prepared remarks later today. Governor Palin is in Florida today where she will hold a rally. Now on to today’s news…
FactCheck.org: Barack Obama’s Social Security Attack On John McCain Is “False”
He tells Social Security recipients their money would now be in the stock market under McCain’s plan. False. In Daytona Beach, Obama said that “if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would’ve had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week.” He referred to “elderly women” at risk of poverty, and said families would be scrambling to support “grandmothers and grandfathers.”
That’s not true. – FactCheck.org
New Hampshire Union Leader: Barack Obama Throwing “False Accusations” At John McCain
In the past few weeks, Obama has thrown so many false accusations against John McCain that just keeping track of them has become difficult. And these aren’t innocent errors. They are deliberate distortions of the sort Obama has always said he reviles. – New Hampshire Union Leader
John McCain Attends Naval Academy Reunion
There were plenty of stories swapped, backs slapped and pictures snapped yesterday in Annapolis as the U.S. Naval Academy hosted five class reunions. But there was even more to anticipate on the grounds of the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Many alumni hoped to get a glimpse of Republican presidential candidateSen. John McCain (Ariz.), who was in town to celebrate his 50th academy reunion and to attend the Navy-Rutgers football game. Inside the stadium, many of his 1958 classmates stuck McCain campaign stickers or buttons next to the “US-58-NA” insignia on their caps. Jack Accountius of Durant, Okla., had a camera strung around his neck with hopes of getting the McCains to pose with him or his wife, Pat. – The Washington Post
“Today’s attack on the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad is an outrageous act of violence. Cindy and I express our deepest condolences for the loss of life, and our thoughts and prayers are with those hurt or killed in the attack.
“Today’s bombing must serve to deepen the resolve of Americans and Pakistanis alike to aggressively confront those terrorist groups that seek our destruction. While no organization has yet taken responsibility for this act, it is well known that Pakistan faces an enduring threat from violent Islamic extremism. We must work with the elected government of Pakistan to find those responsible, hold them accountable, and diminish their ability to threaten us and our allies in the future. It also serves as one more demonstration of the need for the next President to work closely with our partners and allies in order to counter the dangers posed by radical Islamic extremism.”
OBAMA’S HIGH TAX PLATFORM WOULD HURT WISCONSIN TAXPAYERS AND THE STATE’S ECONOMY
Obama Has Proposed A Laundry List Of Tax Hikes, But Wisconsin Taxpayers Already Have A Large Enough Tax Burden:
Obama Has Called For Higher Income Taxes, Social Security Taxes, Capital Gains And Dividend Taxes, And Corporate Taxes, As Well As “Massive New Domestic Spending.”
Obama Supports Nearly Doubling The Capital Gains Tax Rate, Which Would Mean A Tax Hike For Many Wisconsin Taxpayers:
Obama Plans To Raise The Capital Gains Tax Rate. Obama: “I think that we can have a capital gains rate that is higher than 15 percent.” (CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” 3/27/08)
Obama May Raise The Tax To As High As 28 Percent.CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo:“Right now, as you know, the cap gains tax is at 15%. … He [Obama] has said, and he told me today, that he won’t go above 28%. So we are talking about the possibility of a doubling in the capital gains tax.” (CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” 3/27/08)
In 2006, Over 613,000 Wisconsin Taxpayers Reported Capital Gains Income. (Internal Revenue Service Website, “Individual Income And Tax Data, By State And Size Of Adjusted Gross Income, Tax Year 2006,” www.irs.gov, Accessed 6/11/08)
Obama Supports Lifting The Earnings Cap On Payroll Taxes. Obama: “I think that lifting the cap is probably going to be the best option.” (Sen. Barack Obama, Democrat Presidential Candidates Debate, Hanover , NH , 9/26/07 )
Small Business Owners Would Be Significantly Affected By Lifting The Earnings Cap. “Small businesses would be particularly hard hit. In fact, about one-third of the workers affected by raising the cap would be small business owners.” (Michael Tanner, “Keep The Cap,” The Cato Institute, www.cato.org, 6/8/05 )
Democratic energy bill blocks most offshore drilling and raises taxes and costs
Last night Representative Baldwin abandoned Wisconsin citizens by voting for an energy bill (H.R. 6899) that raises energy costs and does very little to drill for new oil. “Trying to provide a distraction to the many families struggling to pay for the fuel to fill their car, Tammy Baldwin’s vote has almost zero chance of decreasing gas prices by utilizing America’s vast energy supplies. It does however provide for billions in tax increases on gasoline and heating oil and increased mandates almost guaranteed to increase the cost of
electricity.” Peter Theron said.
In the dead of night, far left environmental groups worked with the Democratic Congress to pass something about offshore drilling while making sure drilling would never happen. Under the provisions passed by Congress late yesterday, coastal states can permit drilling
but are denied any incentives in the form of royalties like Louisiana and Texas already enjoy. Without sharing royalties no state will drill or invest in oil shale.
In contrast to Baldwin’s politics and resistance to a comprehensive energy plan, Peter Theron has developed a bold plan for American energy. First, we must have real, clean
drilling offshore and in Alaska with shared royalties with the states. Second, we must include emission free nuclear power in the energy mix as the technology develops for
renewable energy.
No issue matters more to our national security and economy than the rising cost of energy and yet Baldwin plays politics by wanting to say she voted for drilling while strangling any real possibility for lower energy costs in the details and red tape.
With gas at $4 per gallon this political posturing must stop. Wisconsin deserves a real energy policy now.

New Poll: 81% of Americans Support Greater Use of Domestic Energy Resources
On Monday, Senator Obama uttered one sentence that could haunt him until Election Day. He said of Senator McCain and Governor Palin telling voters they would bring change, “they must think you’re stupid.” Given his stances on the surge, social issues, and his past, Mr. Obama will regret those words.

So today we find out that yet another bank Lehman is going under. Some people blame the president, and some people blame the democrat based congress. Who is to blame for these banks having so much trouble? Well some pundits love to talk about regulation. There should or should not be more regulation for banks and other small businesses. Here is what our candiates say:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said the GOP’s style of government led to the collapse of Lehman brothers, suggesting the economy couldn’t handle another Republican White House
Obama’s vice presidential candidate Joe Biden was stronger in his criticisms, calling a future McCain White House a bad “sequel” to President Bush’s administration.
Republican candidates John McCain and Sarah Palin, on the other hand, called for robust market reform, ruling out any government bailouts for the bank.
“And I promise you, we will never put America in this position again. We will clean up Wall Street. We will re-reform government,” he vowed at a campaign stop in Jacksonville, Florida.
At a separate stop in Golden, Colorado Palin said she was “glad to see the Federal Reserve and Treasury have said no to bailing out another” bank.
“We are going to put and end to mismanagement and abuses on Wall Street that have resulted in this financial crisis,” Palin said. “Our regulatory system is outdated and needs a complete overhaul. Washington has ignored this.”
Well I think this round goes to McCain/Palin-shocker! McCain and Palin gave solutions and Obama and Biden just took the opportunity to trash on republican. New flash just because you have a R behind your name does mean that you will do exactly as what Bush did. McCain is not Bush people!
Today is a very tough day for America. Today we remember one of the most vicious attacks on our freedom.
9/11 is a day that we all remember. We shall not forget. As I was preparing for this day with this blog I reviewed several different videos and images. For the 7th year in a row I shed several tears. I cry for the victims of 9/11. The heroes who went into a fiery building, the poor souls who could not get out, the people who did get out and today suffer from the traumatic event of the day. I cry for the wifes, husbands, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends, co-workers, and fellow citizens who lost there lives and lost these loved ones.
We all remember what we were doing on this day. We remember how we felt. I personally remember how I felt sad, upset, mad, scared, and anticipation of what the day meant to America. This day meant that we are in a fight for all of America. We fight for freedom, we fight for the safety of America. This is why we today fight the important task of the war on terror. Like it is said Freedom is not Free, and we saw that on September 11, 2001.
American needs to drill here drill now. America is having a energy crisis and we need to do something now!

If Barack Obama wants to rail against Sarah Palin’s record on earmarks he’d better be prepared to defend why he allocated hundreds of millions of tax dollars for his own pet-projects.
Yes, Palin did indicate some support for a Ketchikan “link” (which could be a bridge or a ferry) while campaigning to become Governor. Her exact quote the Obama campaign is using against her is from a 2006 article in the Ketchikan Daily News. Palin is quoted saying:
“The money that’s been appropriated for the project, it should remain available for a link, an access process as we continue to evaluate the scope and just how best to just get this done. This link is a commitment to help Ketchikan expand its access, to help this community prosper.”
“Link” is the operative word. That can mean bridge, ferry or anything else that gets people from one location to another. She also said the “scope” should be considered, which can mean size and cost. Regardless, as Governor, when it really counted, she opposed the bridge flat-out. Meanwhile, in the US Senate, Obama VOTED FOR the $400 million Bridge to Nowhere……….
The Jr senator Obama keep touting that John McCain voted with Bush like 90% of the time. Well him with all his change voted with the democrats around 97% the little voting he did. Hmmm who really can say they are for change?
