Again, a gift of American culture. Again, celebrating the arts. Again, thoughtful and sincere. Is it the fact that these gifts are inexpensive and in a modern format that leads you to see them in such a dim light? Look past the format and look at the content. Though there will never be a collection one could call "definitive" when it comes to something as subjective as art, the selection of films included in the gift are widely seen as some of the very best American contributions to the world of film. Just because there is not a great dollar value attached to the gift does not mean that it was not both thoughtful and sincere. The gifts our nations' leaders give one another are not the foundation of our friendship. Nor is the extravagance of those gifts a measure of that friendship.
