Jason Lemke is a hero and we miss him by Jessi Olson

PFC Jason Lemke, age 30, 2/23, 4th SBCT, 2 Infantry Div.was my friend, my best friend’s brother and a good man. Jason died in Iraq on Jan 5th 2008 a hero, a dad, a brother, a son, and a friend. I have known Jason for many years, I also have known this family for many years and my heart goes out to them with love and devotion. A day doesn’t go by that his family and friend doesn’t think of him. He was proud to be a soilder and fight for his country. Please join me saying a prayer for Jason’s family today, on his 31st birthday.

My father

I normally will not write personal entries but on this Father’s Day I felt the need to. As I recall my late father Russell Olson I have very many fond memories. My father was a caring, compassionate, hard working, great father and husband, and God fearing man. He raised his children to be honest, worthy, and true to who they are. Now this was no easy task having raised 10 of us. He raised engineers, medical assistants, electrician, insurance specialist, medical equipment specialist, teacher, and a MBA. He also taught them how to be great mothers and fathers themselves, having successful children of there own. What he didn’t raise was children who murdered, stole, sold drugs, harmed others, or involved themselves in gang activity. Having come from a very large family our father was the key to keeping us all united, worthy, and respectable. Being the youngest of this family I am very proud to call myself a Olson. I am proud to be part of this family who remains honorable and true to Russell Olson’s values. I remember my father on this day and miss this great man.
