RPW Statement on the Budget

Upon passage of the state budget by the Democratic controlled Wisconsin state Assembly, Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus issued the following statement:

“The budget, passed by the Assembly Democrats despite bi-partisan opposition, adds to their long list of broken promises to Wisconsin residents.  It contains record tax increases to fund pork-barrel projects, rewards friends and punishes enemies.  Crafted behind closed doors despite promises of open government, pork is directed at specific legislators to buy votes and special interest favors–such as removing the QEO and attacking school choice to name just two–make this budget an assault on Wisconsin taxpayers.

Wisconsin residents can expect higher property taxes, gas taxes, phone taxes, car insurance premiums and the list goes on.  Even our communities will be less safe thanks to the early release of dangerous criminals.  A difficult budget is being used as an excuse to enact a radical Democrat agenda that flies in the face of what was promised during the campaign season.  Wisconsin residents are right to be outraged.”

And so it begins

As I sit here in beautiful La Crosse I can’t help wonder what the weekend will bring.   It is convention time in Wisconsin for the Republican party.   A question keeps popping in my head,  what do we need to do to win again?   Next to me a group of ladies were talking about the internal conflict between Conservatives and Republicans.   Well there is  a start.   We need to quit drawing a line in the sand and work together to win again.   Conservatives and Republicans need to stand up and fight for what it is they believe.  Lower taxes, less government intrusion, protecting our freedom, fighting against terrorism,  sanctity of life, and less government spending.

I think it is important for us to be loud and proud.  Democrats are really good and getting heard and I think we can take a small lesson for this.  Lets face it no one likes taxes.  Therefore we need to show the American people that we don’t agree with government raising our taxes.  Like Nancy Reagan stated “Just say NO”.  The Tea Partys across the nation was a great start and another lesson can be taken from that too.  People are mad and just not going to take it any longer.  I think the Republican party for way too long has been quite and reserve.  Well no more of that!   We need to be in the face of the American people.

We have a real oppurtunity here this weekend.   The Republican Party need to communicate to the rest of America that we are done sitting on the side lines and being nice.

Scott Walker announced that he is running for Governor of Wisconsin.  And all I have to say is WOO HOO!  His record of low spending and his fight against taxes is way above any other Republican out there.  He truly is a leader and has proven this from time to time.   More about that in the next several months.

So I sit here before my first meeting and pray.  I pray the the Republican party will stand up.  I pray that we will be loud enough for the American people to know that we are the party for their success and prosperity.  Please join me in a little prayer for the Republican party.
